I will be creating four portraits of real life pirates which are Black Beard, William Kidd, Black Bart and Fancois L'Olonnais.  As none of them have any official photos or life drawings of themselves this gives me freedom to create my own interpretation of the four pirates however I will be following closely to any factual description written about them by witnesses, as I do want to keep them as close and believable to their true appearance as possible. The twist I am adding however is to alter the portraits so that they appear how they would have looked when they died. I chose these four pirates specifically because they each had their own unique and interesting story to how they died which I was very fascinated by. Also I will be adding extra symbolsm in the portraits to give more clues into the story of how they died and add meaning behind it. One of the reasons why I went with this project is because it allows me to produce concept art by coming up with my own designs of the characters but it also becomes more than that are the portraits become an art piece in themselves.
